The Avenue Club Updates
12th MAY 2021
Our hairdressers and our chiropodist are already back at The Club and many of our activities will return in line with the Government’s guidelines from 17th May.
We would like to keep The Avenue Club as a safe place to visit and, as all our classes and activities are managed in a COVID-19 secure way, we will be able to remain open, as long as we ensure that the procedures we have put in place are followed.
Understandably, there have been assumptions that, as you may well have had both your vaccinations by the time you return, there will no longer be a need to socially distance/wear a mask when you are at the Club. Unfortunately, this is not the case because, whilst the rollout of the Government’s programme is proceeding well, vaccination is not compulsory or 100% effective against infection. This will mean that you will be asked to adhere to class protocols as you did when you last attended the Club.
Following the Government’s announcement that twice weekly rapid tests are to be available to everyone in England from 9 April 2021, we encourage members attending classes and events at The Avenue Club to take advantage of these to further help reduce the risk of transmission of the virus.
On returning to classes at The Club, we ask that when you arrive you go directly to your place and do not stop to chat to other members. The same will apply at the end of the class. We ask that you stay in your place until you have paid and then please exit the building immediately. You can talk to other members outside the building in groups of no more than 6 whilst continuing to social distance. It is important that we all adhere to the guidelines and we will be ensuring that all visitors to the Centre comply. We will keep this under constant review and will make further changes as necessary.
We would also like to remind all visitors that face coverings must be worn at all times in communal areas of the building.
It is also essential that we give all our members and staff the highest level of protection from Covid-19 while they are at The Avenue Club. With that in mind, we have written guidelines for each class which we ask each attendee to follow.
Numbers for some classes will continue to be restricted for the time being to ensure social distancing can be maintained. If you would like to attend any classes please do give us a call on 020 8948 8807 and, if you book a place and subsequently decide not to attend, please let us know, with as much notice as possible.
In addition to adhering to class specific guidelines, we would also ask that our members take responsibility for their own wellbeing and that of their fellow members so please do not come to classes if:
- You are feeling unwell with symptoms that could be caused by COVID-19 (e.g. high temperature, a new continuous cough or a change in their sense of taste or smell),
- you are in quarantine,
- you have been in contact, within the previous 14 days of a known or suspected case of COVID-19,
- you have done a rapid lateral flow test and the result shows positive.
We also ask that if:
- You are clinically vulnerable you follow the advice of your doctor regarding using Avenue Club facilities
- you develop symptoms that could be due to COVID-19 infection, within 7 days of your last time in the Avenue Club, you report this immediately to the Avenue Club office.
We look forward to seeing you back at the Club.
