Every Monday and Wednesday here at The Avenue Club we serve a two course lunch from 12pm – 1.30pm. Cooked by our wonderful chef Marlene.
‘My love of cooking started from a very early age – pre-school, when i used to stand on a stool and help my mother in the kitchen.
As I grew older , I learned that dishes can go from bland and mediocre to spectacular with additions of flavourings, herbs and spices, and this is how I like to cook now.
I source the best ingredients I can at the most cost-effective price, buying fruit and vegetables from Portobello Rd market every week when I’m on my way home from a swim in the Serpentine. I try new recipes every week, looking online and in books, and if I really like something I’ve eaten in a restaurant, I will always talk to the chef to enquire how to make it !
It gives me so much pleasure to cook lunches for The Avenue club, and I’m really happy to say I get a lot of compliments.’ Marlene
