Balance, Agility & Mobility

We are delighted that Garry Freer is back with a new ‘Balance, Agility, Mobility’ class. Agility improves flexibility and control which in turn will help the body to maintain proper alignment, posture and balance during movement and prevent injury and falls as well as keeping you mobile, fit and active.

Everyone in the group started out as a beginner, joining at different times. New members are always very welcome and will start with a few small mosaics, then join in with the ongoing class project.

Strength Training
Stephen Weil
Stephen has been training members at the Avenue Club for two years and works exclusively with older adults – his clients’ average age is 73, his oldest almost 90!
Strength is increasingly seen medically as the most important component to staying active for longer; it strengthens muscles, joints and especially important – bones! It also improves coordination and balance, which reduces the chances of falling.

Walking Group
Monthly – every 3rd Thursday 9.30am
Serge Lourie
Organised by Serge Lourie, these walks take place once a month on a Thursday starting at 9:30 for 9:45 from The Avenue Club.
Walks take around three hours and usually include a stop for a snack and comfort break after about one and a half hours.

Yoga with Caroline

This is a Hatha yoga (general) class of mixed ability where there will be a focus on balancing the body using the breath to gently mobilise, stretch and improve strength and muscle tone. It will include relaxation time to facilitate the release of tension in the mind and the body.
